We have ordered the mechanical horse and the container is to be delivered on the 2nd May thanks to Cleveland Containers for their generous discount.
The Regional Qualifiers went well with 7 riders expected to attend but with any group illness took it toll and 3 couldn't make it. However 2 of those have already qualified and 3 more then qualified on the day. The ones who had already qualified are Emma Wells, Julie Holmes and Mark Griffin. The others that qualified are Holly Crawford, Jackie Smeeton and Karen Pocklington.
Emma Wells and Cody have been asked to be one of the team members at the Home International Dressage at the end of the month. Well done Emma we are all behind you.
National Championships
Well here we go RDA National Championships 2014 at Hartpury. The big lorry arrived at Weelsby Park Riding School and was loaded up with Sam and Cody , hay food, luggage and mobility scooters and the folding wheelbarrows that Brigg Inner Wheel gave us - boy they'd get some use this weekend. Riders going were Hollie Crawford, Mark Griffin, Julie Holmes, Karen Pocklington Jackie Smeeton and Emma Wells. Instructors Shirley Kay, Jen Leggett and Carol Scott. Volunteers- Sonia Briggs, Roy & Jean Hampson and Cyril Jones.
The sun shone wonderfully at Hartpury on Friday. But then we went to bed and the heavens opened and thunder roared and lightning flashed .... And kept on.
By the morning all the outdoor arenas we're flooded and the magnificent RDA Organisation sprang into action. Freestyle classes were cancelled to give everyone the chance to do their Championship Class and the International Arena was made into two slightly small arenas but quite workable.
Emma Wells test didn't quite go as planned- never mind there'll be lots of other chances but Holly Crawford and Sam now competing inside one of the biggest Dressage Arenas in the Country for her first ever National Championships strode in on Sam and did a lovely test coming an admirable 6th
The sun came out in the evening and we barbecued and chatted. Most went of to the bar and partied.
Sunday- we'll the sun not only came out it scorched. All the Arenas were totally dry. Full programme ahead with Jackie, Julie, Karen and Mark all riding. What a successful day. Mark and Karen came equal second in their Championship Test. Julie and Jackie came third and fourth in their Freestyle Tests, Karen came second in her Freestyle Test Jackie came fourth in her Championship Test but the absolute star of the show was Julie Holmes who not only won her Championship Class but was Class Champion too..., all of this having been on a ventilator in hospital 10 days before.
So well done to all of the Riders, thank you so much to our wonderful volunteers and Instructors who worked so hard and thank you to our Partners and Sister who came and helped, Mandy Anderson, Lisa Sumner & Nick Wells. A fabulous weekend
It is with sadness that we at Cleethorpes and Grimsby Riding for the Disabled have today (7/10/2014) said goodbye to our beautiful big bay horse GRANT (Grantbourne Landslide). He has taught our riders so much and competed with the best. Our thanks go to Glenys, Marie and all the staff at Weelsby Riding School because without all their love and care this day would have come so much sooner. RIP Grant Big thankyou to Emma Wells and particularly to Nick Wells for all they have done for him during the last two weeks
