End of a brilliant era of 30yrs and hopefully the start of another great one. Smokey, Cody, Iggy and George all settled at their new home at Cottagers Plot. Massive Thank you to Carol and her two fab friends, Sarah, Jules, Emma, Lisa, Mark, Cyril ,Shirley, Susie and Dylan for helping to move an enormous amount of our "gear". I am sure everyone at Cleethorpes and Grimsby Riding for the Disabled are most grateful for everything you have done. Time now for a VERY BIG THANK YOU. To Glenys. Ian. Amy and all the staff at Weelsby Park Riding School (with a special mention of Marie and Jill) for more than 30 fantastic years. You have looked after Cleethorpes and Grimsby Riding for the Disabled in so many ways it is hard to mention them all. We want to wish Amy Good Luck for the future. You deserve to go on in leaps and bounds Amy.
It is with a heavy heart, but also with understanding, that we are announcing the retirement of Shirley Kay, our President and Chief Instructor. Shirley helped start the group over 30 years ago. She has brought joy and fulfillment to many riders with her endless patience. Shirley's personaility, kindness and guidance will be greatly missed by riders and volunteers, past and present. Thank you Shirley from everyone who you have helped, guided and supported over the years.
A little about ourselves
The RDA is the UK’s leading specialist organisation in providing equestrian activities for people with physical and learning disabilities.
We aim to ensure that every one of our riders have the opportunity for physical activity but above all to give them personal enjoyment
We are based at Cottagers Plot Equestrian Centre Laceby. We have been running since 1986.
We own 7 horses, though only 5 are used now as Edward and Jack have retired. Also Samwise has got to have a year off, hoping he will be better soon. So the horses we use are Smokey Joe, Cody, Iggy and George.
We will be using our new mechanical horse George soon, see news 2015
The group runs 6 sessions a week 3 each on Wednesday and Thursday morning.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help, as some of our riders need 3 people to be with them while they ride. Contact us via our contact page.
We have been awarded a grant of £30,000 from Comic Relief. This is a huge benefit to us. We will be upgrading all of our equipment.
